Durham Castle is a fantastic venue with some magnificent surroundings in the hear of Durham City in County Durham. The County Durham Wedding DJ team are always overjoyed to work in such grand surroundings with the professional staff at the brilliant wedding reception venue.
On this occasion, we were hired by Stephanie & Glenn (as featured in the video and pictured) to provide our high class, professional and reliable Wedding DJ/Disco service on their special day. The happy couple felt that the package we offered them was the best option for them on their memorable wedding day. Not only were we there for their wedding day, but back in 2012 we were also proud to provide the entertainment at Durham Town Hall where the couple held their engagement party, as the couple explains in an e-mail they sent to us after their big day:
We first booked Michael for our engagement party back in 2012 and were very impressed by the service we got. The dance floor was never empty and the atmosphere was great.
So, without a doubt, we would book them for our wedding in July 2017.
Again, we can’t thank Michael and County Durham Wedding DJ enough for a great after party atmosphere. Everyone had a wonderful time and our “first dance” moment was truly special.
Thank you Michael and Team.
From the new Mr & Mrs Taylor
The newlyweds selected Take That’s ‘Rule The World’ as their first dance song as husband and wife. They had a good think about what they would like to follow that special son and they opted for two upbeat and happy songs to kick the entertainment off:
- Pharrell Williams – Happy
- Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk
One of the key elements of the service we provide to couples looking to hire a professional DJ is the ability to listen to their needs and to put their thoughts in place. Stephanie & Glen spent time to go through their favourite songs to help us personalise the music we played. They also got to grips with what their friends and family members may appreciate and get up to dance to. So, with the background information on their choices and a great selection of other music genres and artistes, we set about entertaining everyone at the wedding reception.
Gaining the background information from our customers helps us to tailor the event and it gives us a great opportunity to create a fantastic party atmosphere.

Crook Hall & Gardens is a wedding venue that has appeared in our diary many times over the past year or so and County Durham Wedding DJ is getting quite accustomed to being chosen over their Resident DJ to provide our experienced and professional Wedding DJ service at the venue.
This time, it was Leigh & Gavin (pictured dancing with some of their guests) who decided that we were the option that ticked all of their boxes when it came to selecting a Wedding DJ to provide a great party atmosphere and get their guests celebrating their wedding. The happy couple also had their initials in giant illuminated letters and this is a service that County Durham Wedding DJ can provide – we usually get asked for the Giant Illuminated LOVE Letters as that is our most popular request from couples looking to hire the Mr & Mrs Giant Illuminated Letters.
Many people see the first dance as something special and memorable. Leigh & Gavin decided to have Jason Mraz and ‘I Won’t Give Up’ as their first dance song as husband and wife.
The couple wanted us to play a varied selection of popular songs and we stuck to their suggestion on their special day. Much to the surprise of the newlyweds, we even got the grandparents up dancing, as per the fantastic feedback we received after their wedding reception at Crook Hall and Gardens:
Just want to say a huge thank you to Michael our wedding DJ. He was fantastic and the music selection was perfect. The dance floor was never empty & he even got my grandparents raving away!
Absolutely brilliant Michael, you were exactly what we wanted.
I would highly recommend booking County Durham Wedding DJ for any event.
Many Thanks Again,
The New Mr & Mrs Cattanach
Leigh & Gavin

Crook Hall & Gardens is a wonderful venue that is really making its mark in the busy wedding reception venue market. County Durham Wedding DJ has provided our professional Mobile DJ/Mobile Disco and other wedding services at this venue in the centre of Durham City. We’ve performed at Crook Hall and Gardens several times and have created many happy memories on such an important day like a wedding.
On this occasion, we were booked by Robyn & Craig (pictured) as they were looking for an Independent Professional DJ to take charge of providing the disco for their special day. They decided not to book the Resident DJ and felt that we, County Durham Wedding DJ, were the best option for them.
The couple lased with us on the run up to their big day and they wanted a wide selection of popular songs that would get their guests in the party mood. So, we stuck to their remit and made sure that we catered for all ages and played songs that would encourage people up to dance from all genres of music.
For their first dance, the newlyweds selected Lonestar’s ‘Amazed’ as their first dance song and you can see that part of the evening in the video.
We look forward to returning to Crook Hall & Gardens in the near future and we look forward to bringing our professional Wedding DJ/Wedding Disco service to that fine North East venue that’s gaining a great reputation for hosting weddings and other events.
Rather than us tell you how good the evening reception went for the happy couple, this is what they sent us a short time after their wedding day:
We booked County Durham Wedding DJ having met them at a wedding fayre. The guys struck us as being both professional and personal.
On the day itself they were excellent, playing all of our requests, and made sure we and our guests had an excellent night. I would recommend County Durham Wedding DJ to anyone, very experienced guys, reliable and very well priced.

Shotton Hall is situated in Peterlee in County Durham and Katie & Anthony (pictured with some of their family members) chose this local authority run venue to host their wedding day celebrations. County Durham Wedding DJ was brought on-board to provide our professional Mobile Disco service for the happy couple.
Peterlee Town Council have a lovely venue that’s used for weddings, events, conferences, seminars and town/council business. It is located on the outskirts of Peterlee between the towns of Durham and Hartlepool and near to the A19.
The newlyweds selected County Durham Wedding DJ to provide the entertainment at their event, as opposed to using any Resident DJ or Disc Jockey that the venue may highlight. They felt that we could provide the service, skills and experience to deliver a great night on such a memorable and important part of their wedding day. We are always proud when customers feel that we are the right wedding supplier for their special day.
Katie & Anthony gave us the remit to play a wide selection of popular songs in an effort to make sure that as many guests as possible will have a selection of their favourites played. Weddings are a family event and they often need a diverse selection of appropriately chosen songs to get the guests in the mood for a great party. This is something that County Durham Wedding DJ is well experienced in as we have provided our service throughout the North East for more than two decades.
The newlyweds selected Ellie Goulding with ‘Love Me Like You Do’ as their first dance song as husband and wife and you can see that special moment in the video.
We look forward to future bookings at Shotton Hall in Peterlee and we look forward to fielding other enquiries from couples who have chosen the venue to host their wedding day.

Ramside Hall Hotel at Carrville in County Durham was chosen by Danielle & David (pictured) to host their wedding reception and County Durham Wedding DJ was hired by the couple to provide our Professional Mobile Disco service. County Durham Wedding DJ is hired to perform at many high class venues and events across the North East of England, but as an independent DJ company, we always like to showcase our services where venues usually have a Resident DJ.
It’s often very easy for couples to accept the guidance of Wedding Coordinators at venues to use the in-house/Resident DJ as it’s one less thing for the couple to deal with. However, there are couples who do want to spend the time on finding the right DJ for them to take charge of the second half of their wedding day celebrations. We are proud that Danielle & David felt that County Durham Wedding DJ ticked all of the boxes for the couple and that we were brought in to provide the entertainment for their party at Ramside Hall Hotel.
Many venues say that their packages include a ‘free DJ’. However, it’s often important to mention that rarely are things free and if a couple is using a venue with ‘packages’ the cost of the DJ is hidden/included in their fee (sometimes with 20% VAT on top!). When things are perceved as being free, the venue needs to strike a balance between the cost of them hiring the DJ and the quality of the DJ they use. It’s up to the venue to decide which is the most important factor and we wouldn’t like to comment on which option they go for.
In this instance, Danielle & David didn’t go for the Resident DJ and hired County Durham Wedding DJ to perform at Ramside Hall Hotel in Durham. We brought our professional Wedding DJ services to their event and took on-board their thoughts and wishes for their big day to offer a bespoke service with direct access and contact with us here at County Durham Wedding DJ.
The couple selected Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You’ as their first dance and followed that up with a Father-Daughter dance which consisted of ‘I Loved Her First’ by Heartland. Our remit was to play a wide selection of music and we did just that by playing selections from many genres and music that appealed to all ages.
We look forward to future bookings from discerning couples who have hired Ramside Hall Hotel to host their wedding day celebrations.

There are many fine colleges that make up the prestigious Durham University and County Durham Wedding DJ has had the pleasure of providing our professional mobile disco service to many of those colleges. We were booked by Deb & Neil (pictured right) to be their Wedding DJ and they selected the College of St Hild & St Bede of Durham University as the venue to host their wedding party.
The couple hired County Durham Wedding DJ because we take on requests in advance and we try our very best to play them at the right time. They were very particular about the music they wanted as they’d been to many parties and hadn’t appreciated the music provided at those events, so we tailored the music to their needs as they liked many bands and singers that fell into the ‘Indie’ or ‘Alternative’ music categories.
As well as finding out what our customers want, we also seek information on what they don’t want and Deb & Neil were not fans of any novelty songs, bubblegum pop (their words) or the back catalogue of music from Stock, Aitken & Waterman. In correspondence leading up to their wedding day, the couple said that they hoped they weren’t too demanding: “…we’ve been to that many wedding discos that we know what we have and haven’t enjoyed.” So, with that information at hand, we were able to avoid any tracks that fell into their ‘do not play’ categories.
As you’ll see from the video the happy couple selected Louis Armstrong’s version of ‘La Vie En Rose’ as their first dance song.
We were also able to enhance the decor of the room by adding our Mood Lighting service and Deb & Neil selected pink and we added a splash of colour to the venue for them.

County Durham Wedding DJ was asked to provide the entertainment for Durham Police at the magnificent Durham Castle in the centre of the city of Durham. The guests enjoyed a fantastic meal with light music in the background to help create a good atmosphere, while also giving people the chance to talk to the other guests on their table. After the meal the disco started and great night was had by all.
The Black Tie event brought the ladies out with their best frocks and the gentlemen looked dashing in their best formal attire. The event was their annual Christmas Party that always takes place after the festive season because of the workload throughout December.
We have a number of bookings for Weddings at Durham Castle and the venue really is one of the jewels in Durham’s prestigious heritage. County Durham Wedding DJ always looks forward to working with the staff of Durham Castle and to create a memorable wedding day.
Venue: Durham Castle, Durham
Durham Castle is a magnificent wedding venue in the heart of Durham City and County Durham Wedding DJ is regularly booked to provide the disco in the Grand Hall. We were booked to DJ at the venue by Ruth and Richard who got married in April 2012.
The newlyweds selected David Grohl – Hero as their First Dance and you can see a clip from that special moment in the video below.
The couple selected some of their favourite songs to follow their First Dance, these included music from Olly Murs, the Black Eyed Peas and Take That. The music policy for the rest of the night included the bride and groom’s favourites and a wide selection of songs for their guests.
Ruth and Richard wanted the requests from their guests to be played and went on to describe what their thoughts were: “We just request some decent floor fillers! Anything from Abba to JLS,” and that’s just what County Durham Wedding DJ supplied.
The happy couple sent us these comments:
We would like to thank Michael (AKA County Durham Wedding DJ) for doing such a wonderful job at our wedding.
He played all of the songs we wanted, as well as taking requests from our friends and family. The dance floor was full all night, and every one of our guests has said what a wonderful time they had.
The added touch of taking photographs during the evening and video footage of our first dance was brilliant! We received a CD of photographs in the post just a few days after the wedding and we have enjoyed looking at these action shots!
Thanks once again for making it such an enjoyable evening – we are so glad we hired you!

County Durham Wedding DJ made another return to the magnificent Durham Castle in the heart of Durham City. We were booked by Jacqueline & Jamie to provide their wedding disco in The Great Hall of Durham Castle and it was a great party – even if we do say so ourselves.
The happy couple selected some of their favourite songs for their special day. They wanted Madonna’s ‘Crazy For You’ as their first dance and then wanted to get the celebrations off to a good start with a big floor filler from the 1980s: Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
We’ve included a video (below) of their first dance and the rush of guests to the dance floor for their chosen second song.
Over the past year, we’ve had a growing number of bookings for Durham Castle come through and we can only put that down to our excellent reputation and from more recommendations/word of mouth referrals from past customers.
The picture above shows Jacqueline & Jamie cutting their wedding cake that took place just before they took to the floor for their first dance as husband and wife. The newlyweds sent us some feedback upon returning from their Honeymoon:
“My husband and i would like to take a minute to say thank you very much to County Durham Wedding DJ. The DJ was extremely friendly and ensured it was extremely easy and enjoyable to select our play list.
From the beginning of our evening celebrations the music was perfect – exactly what we asked for which ensured the dance floor was full all evening. He has even taken some photos and made a DVD which he has passed onto us since.
All together, our day was fantastic and was made even more so by our choice of DJ. I would recommend him for all occasions.
Thank you again,
Jacqueline & Jamie”

County Durham Wedding DJ was back at Durham Masonic Hall in the heart of the wonderful city of Durham on Old Elvet, to provide the entertainment for another pair of newlyweds.
We were booked by Louise & Andrew to provide the disco for their evening wedding party and you can view a short video (below) that depicts some of the events at their wedding reception. This includes their first dance as husband and wife: Paul Weller – You Do Something To Me
