The Hall Garth Hotel was the chosen wedding reception venue for Aprille & Richard and County Durham Wedding DJ was hired in to create a great party atmosphere.  The couple decided not to hire the Resident DJ and hired us, along with our Mood Lighting package in purple.

The couple selected the incredibly popular Ed Sheeran and his song ‘Thinking Out Loud’ as their first dance and you can see that memorable point in the night in the video (below).  As there was a heavy Scottish contingent, we played a selection of songs to get them in the mood.  For example, the video (below) shows how energetic and excited the Scots can get when you put Runrig and ‘Loch Lomond’ on for them.

As for the other music selections, that was down to us – the only guidance we had was to play a wide selection of music and to cater for all the different age groups.  This is one of the most important aspects of entertaining people at a wedding reception and getting the right music on at the right time is a skill you learn over time.

County Durham Wedding DJ operates throughout the North East and the Hallgarth Hotel is a venue we appear at several times a year and it just goes to show that couples who hire a venue don’t always go for the Resident DJ option.  Some couples do their homework and pick the right DJ for them, as opposed to being told or forced to use a certain supplier.

County Durham Wedding DJ is getting to be quite a regular supplier of wedding entertainment at the Hall Garth Hotel near Darlington in County Durham.  We’ve been independently chosen by many couples to provide their wedding disco throughout 2011 and it looks like the positive comments about our service are spreading further afield.  With bookings already in the diary for 2012, it looks like the Hall Garth Hotel will be a regular venue for us.

This time we were booked by Katie and Matthew for their wedding reception disco.  The happy couple selected Florence And The Machine and their version of ‘You Got The Love,’ as their first dance song.  My clients wanted a wide selection of music for their party and this included: modern indie, 60s, 70s, 80s, chart and Motown selections.

On the run up to Christmas in 2011, County Durham Wedding DJ was asked to provide the wedding disco for Sarah & Paul Brackstone at the Hall Garth Hall Hotel, near Darlington in County Durham.  The couple selected John Denver – Annie’s Song as their first dance and they also picked the first few songs of the party that meant something special to them both.  These songs just so happened to be very popular with their guests and there was a full dance floor from the start of the night.

The videographers for Sarah & Paul’s wedding kindly gave us permission to feature some of the footage from the wedding and that can be viewed below.  Many thanks to John & Roy Hinton from for allowing us to use a section of the DVD that they created for the couple.

After their big day, Sarah & Paul contacted us to say:

“We booked County Durham Wdeding DJ for our wedding as the price was excellent.  From the moment of booking, Michael kept in contact with us regarding the type of music we would like playing and the song choice for our first dance.

On the evening, the music was fantastic – his brief was to keep the party going with a mixture of old and new party songs and he certainly did that.  He accepted any requests from our guests with a smile and every request was played.

We had a brilliant evening and would definitely recommend booking County Durham Wedding DJ.

Thank you so much for making our evening reception absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for a fantastic evening reception and will be in touch if we ever need a disco again.”

County Durham Wedding DJ had the pleasure of providing the Wedding Disco for Kris & Rebecca’s special day at the Hall Garth Hotel in Darlington, County Durham.  We were also worked with a fantastic wedding singer called Jeff Dingle and he brought his band, The Moodswing Trio.  Jeff provided the first dance which was a cover version of Jason Mraz – I’m Yours.  There’s a video of the First Dance and some pictures from the wedding below.

Once the first dance was completed, we were asked to play a very specific song that viewers of The Apprentice TV show or fans of a certain North East football team will recognise: Prokofiev – Dance Of The Knights.  While the classical recording isn’t something that you’d normally dance to, it had a special meaning for the couple and some of the guests.  This was followed up with a real disco classic for the party to really get going: The Bee Gees – More Than A Woman.

It was great returning to provide another Wedding Disco at The Hall Garth Hotel in Coatham Mundeville near Darlington and we always look forward to providing some of the entertainment when we are booked by the couples who have chosen the venue for their wedding reception.

Kris & Rebecca had a big part to play in what they wanted playing at their evening wedding reception and we had all of the requests, but not enough time to get through all the songs that they wanted.  It was still a great night, but we could have played on for several hours longer and continued to kept that dance floor busy.

The newlyweds had some very favourable comments about the service that we provided at The Hall Garth Hotel:

“I’d highly recommend County Durham Wedding DJ to anyone needing a DJ.  We hired them for our wedding at the Hall Garth Hotel and they were great all night, played plenty of the cheesy music we asked for and kept everyone on the dance floor.

As well as being easy to communicate with before and during the wedding, they even managed to get a video of our first dance which we really appreciated as it’s something we wouldn’t have had a chance to see ourselves.

Thanks so much,

Rebecca & Kris”
