The Morritt Arms Hotel at Barnard Castle was the chosen venue for the wedding reception of Jenny & Ben (pictured right) and County Durham Wedding DJ was the supplier they picked to provide the party for their evening celebrations.  We’ve provided our Mobile Disco package to many couples at the Morritt Arms Hotel over the years and the bookings keep flowing in from couples who have chosen this wedding reception venue for their big day.

The happy couple selected Tom Odell and ‘Grow Old With Me’ as their first dance as husband and wife – just like the song suggests, we hope that’s exactly what they do together in their marriage.

As for their music selections, they sent us a short list of their favourites and we were happy to oblige on that front.  Importantly, the couple also sent us information on what they would not like to hear at their wedding reception party and we kept away from the likes of ‘The Birdie Song’, ‘The Macarena’, ‘YMCA’ and ‘The Conga’ to name but a few of the ‘cheesy’ songs our clients did not want.

Upon their return from their honeymoon, Jenny & Ben sent us their feedback on their Wedding Reception Disco:

“We had County Durham Wedding DJ do the music for our wedding disco at The Morritt Arms, and we have no complaints.  He played a good mix of music, as well as all our requests.

There was plenty of dancing, in fact I was dancing all night, even as I walked around chatting to guests I was tapping my feet!  He even took some lovely photos and a video of our first dance, which I was not expecting so it was a lovely surprise.

Michael was very thorough in discussing our requirements, so as to get it completely perfect. The result was that there were always people dancing and a great atmosphere. A friendly personal service that I would definitely recommend. Very happy customers!!

Jenny & Ben”

Bowburn Hall Hotel near Durham was the venue chosen by Samantha & Christopher for their wedding reception venue and, of course, it was County Durham Wedding DJ that the couple hired to provide the party atmosphere for their special day.  As well as the music and evening entertainment, we also supplied a projector, screen and computer equipment to display some great pictures of the happy couple, their family members and friends.

We have provided mobile discos and DJs throughout the North East and further afield if necessary, so don’t think that our trading name of County Durham Wedding DJ restricts us to the Durham area.  On this occasion, Bowburn Hall Hotel was on our doorstep and it’s turning into quite a regular venue for us to provide our wedding entertainment services.

As you’ll see from the video (below) Samantha & Christopher selected ‘Boys II Men – I Swear’ as their first dance as husband and wife.  They also selected a follow-up song in the form of ‘Heartland – I Loved Her First’.  Samantha was joined by her father for that special and memorable moment.

The rest of the night had a wide selection of music with a small selection from the happy couple as they were confident in our abilities to create the best atmosphere possible for their party.

Durham Castle is a magnificent venue to host a wedding reception and County Durham Wedding DJ was back in the centre of Durham to provide the evening entertainment for Bethany & Rogan’s (pictured right) party.  It’s always a pleasure working at fantastic venues throughout the North East and the staff at Durham Castle are always a pleasure to see and help make the wedding day one to remember.

The newlyweds selected ‘Eric Clapton – Wonderful Tonight’ as their first dance (video below) and that set a great mood for the rest of the night because as soon as that traditional aspect was completed, the guests hit the dance floor and never stopped partying.  The guests were full of energy and we tried our best to wear them down with some great music selections and requests, but they beat us hands down.

The happy couple wanted a good mix of music to cater for all ages and, as we do at all events and with permission from our clients, we took requests from the guests to help create a great party atmosphere.  DJing at Durham Castle is always a pleasure, but it’s even better when we have a crowd that wants to really celebrate the marriage of their friend or family member.

The Eden Arms Hotel near Rushyford is on our doorstep and we were booked by Evonne and John (pictured right) to provide their wedding disco.  County Durham Wedding DJ was also on-hand to enhance their evening celebrations as we also provided a projector, screen and computer system to display some memorable images.

The projector service is very popular with couples who have chosen to get married abroad and then have a party back in the North East.  Evonne & John did just that and we were able to project some of their wedding photographs for guests who couldn’t make the wedding ceremony.  It also gave the couple the opportunity to put some other interesting, memorable and their favourite photographs into a video slideshow.  Here’s a picture of the ceremony from Evonne and John’s wedding:

As County Durham Wedding DJ has performed at the Eden Arms Hotel, you may be forgiven for thinking that we are their Resident DJ/Resident Mobile Disco provider.  In fact, we do not have any residencies and we work directly for the couples who hire us.  We are a preferred supplier for a number of venues and the Eden Arms Hotel have used us for some of their functions and often point their customers in our direction when it comes to the entertainment.

On the music front, Evonne and John selected a great song that was used in the film ‘An Officer And A Gentleman’ with Richard Gere: Joe Cokcker & Jennifer Warnes – Up Where We Belong (as featured in the video below).

The agenda for the evening celebrations was to play a wide selection of music and to mix it up for the various friends and family members in attendance.  There were a couple of special songs that the newlyweds wanted playing as they reminded them of their honeymoon.  Finally, the couple selected the last song of the party: Gerry & The Pacemakers – You’ll Never Walk Alone

Kelly And Adam’s Wedding

My customers got married at Barnard Castle School that’s next to Bowes Musem in Barnard Castle.  My clients booked the Chocolate Fountain from the Wedding Essentials section.  This add-on service was highly popular with the guests – especially the kids.

Kelly and Adam gave me a big playlist of their favourite songs, to which I added music in from the 60s to the present day.  The dance floor was full from the start to the finish.

There was a wide range of age groups present, so I mixed it up with old and new including 60s, 70s 80s and motown.  The bridal party were pleased with the selection of music played and I received a big round of applause at the end of the night.

The Mother of the Bride said she would defiantly book me again for a party in the future if she ever needed a disco.

Diane & Stewart O’Keeffe have been to a number of other functions that I have worked at and they had no hesitation in hiring my services again – only this time they were the customers.

The couple had their wedding reception at Spennymoor Town Hall and it’s a venue that I have done many time before.

The happy couple made a few requests in advance and I also took on-board the music selections from the guests on the night.  A wide selection of music from the 60s to the present day was the remit for this party.

The newlyweds were very happy with the disco and commented: “Thank you to Michael and the team for helping to make our night very memorable.  It was the perfect end to a perfect day.”

Charlotte And Chris Got Married at Headlam Hall followed by reception at Barnard Castle. The couple hired a huge marquee with a chequered dancefloor. They had Moodlighting (LED Uplighting), Chocolate Fountain and Wedding Balloons that are available to hire from us (see: Wedding Extras section).

Their happy couple selected Rod Stewart and his version of ‘Have I Told You Lately’ as their First Dance. The newlyweds were joined by the wedding guests mid way through their special song.

My customers sent in a small playlist of their favourite songs, these included a selection of tunes for the children who also danced to a special song for the bride and groom. The rest of the event was left in my capable hands and I made sure that a wide selection of songs were played to cater for the wide range of guests.

It was a great night, everyone enjoyed themselves and the father of the bride stated if they needed a disco in the future they would not hesitate to contact me.

County Durham Wedding DJ had the pleasure of providing the Wedding Disco for Kris & Rebecca’s special day at the Hall Garth Hotel in Darlington, County Durham.  We were also worked with a fantastic wedding singer called Jeff Dingle and he brought his band, The Moodswing Trio.  Jeff provided the first dance which was a cover version of Jason Mraz – I’m Yours.  There’s a video of the First Dance and some pictures from the wedding below.

Once the first dance was completed, we were asked to play a very specific song that viewers of The Apprentice TV show or fans of a certain North East football team will recognise: Prokofiev – Dance Of The Knights.  While the classical recording isn’t something that you’d normally dance to, it had a special meaning for the couple and some of the guests.  This was followed up with a real disco classic for the party to really get going: The Bee Gees – More Than A Woman.

It was great returning to provide another Wedding Disco at The Hall Garth Hotel in Coatham Mundeville near Darlington and we always look forward to providing some of the entertainment when we are booked by the couples who have chosen the venue for their wedding reception.

Kris & Rebecca had a big part to play in what they wanted playing at their evening wedding reception and we had all of the requests, but not enough time to get through all the songs that they wanted.  It was still a great night, but we could have played on for several hours longer and continued to kept that dance floor busy.

The newlyweds had some very favourable comments about the service that we provided at The Hall Garth Hotel:

“I’d highly recommend County Durham Wedding DJ to anyone needing a DJ.  We hired them for our wedding at the Hall Garth Hotel and they were great all night, played plenty of the cheesy music we asked for and kept everyone on the dance floor.

As well as being easy to communicate with before and during the wedding, they even managed to get a video of our first dance which we really appreciated as it’s something we wouldn’t have had a chance to see ourselves.

Thanks so much,

Rebecca & Kris”

Sharon & Steve’s Wedding At Bishop Auckland Town Hall

This couple were married abroad, but had their evening celebrations at Bishop Auckland Town Hall.  They had some Wedding Extras that included clusters of balloons in pink to match the LED Uplighting/Moodlighting that was also in pink.

Their First Dance Was Leonia Lewis – A Moment In Time.

They sent me a small playlist of their favourite songs, to which we added Loads of Music from the 90s that the Sharon certainly appreciated.

There was a wide range of guests and everybody seemed pleased with the music played.  The couple thanked me at the end of the night for the music and I was there at the end to bid them farewell on their big day.

I had a great time DJing at their wedding.

Headlam Hall, near Gainford, Darlington

This couple got married at Headlam Hall, near Gainford, in Darlington and they picked a great weekend to get wed.  My clients booked the Moodlighting package in blue that’s available from the Wedding Services part of the website.

They gave a playlist of their favourite songs, to which we added music from the 60s to the present time.  To add to the great entertainment selections from me, they also had three singers who performed a number of cover versions.

There were mixed age groups present, so I mixed it up with old and new including 60s, 70s 80s and motown.  The bride, was pleased with the selection of music played and I received a big round of applause at the end of the night.

The happy couple and she said if she ever needed a disco for a party, I would be their first port of call.
